Honoring an American Hero

During this season of Thanksgiving many of us are focused on family and getting together with our loved ones. These are special times and should not be taken for granted.

This past Independence Day the guests, both kids and adults alike, created a flag with their handprints for an Army reserve unit 103 ESC (which included soldiers from Wisconsin) deployed in Iraq. After a few weeks our Jellystone staff received an email from Staff Sgt Loleni Gandy thanking all the people that'd taken time to create this memento. He'd attached a picture of the homemade flag drapped on the side of his MRAP and of himself holding a stack of cards which were sent with the flag. The Jellystone staff is made up of many veterans and people that love this country. As this email was passed around it touched many of our staff members.

It is with deep sadness that we inform all our FB friends and park guests that Staff Sgt Gandy was killed in Iraq, while serving our great country, on November 19, 2011. Our hearts and prayers go out to this fine American, his family and loved ones.
